TANKISO PITSO

Senior Researcher

Previously, Mr Pitso worked as a Research Assistant at ANC Policy Institute and an Office Assistant at the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) International Desk. He joined SATRI as an intern in 2015 and became full time Research Associate since 2016. His duties include: writing discussion papers, secondary data collection, field research, concepts and proposal development, critical evaluation of scientific literature, research data analysis and reports writing. His research interest include clean coal technologies, graduate employability and mining and global energy research. Mr Pitso holds a Masters degree in International Business (MIB) from Monash University, a BA degree in Political Science and Industrial Sociology, a Bcom (Hons) in Development Theory and Policy, PG Certificate in Project and Construction Management from University of the Witwatersrand. He is a PhD candidate with the University of Johannesburg.

ZOLISA BAVUYISE

Senior Researcher

Mr Zolisa Bavuyise Mpange has five years’ experience in Research and Development (R&D). Gained through work experience at Sam Tambani Research Institute, University of South Africa, and Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. Currently he is a Research Associate at Sam Tambani Research Institute responsible for undertaking empirical and desktop research based on but not limited to areas of labour, socio-economic, political and technology.  He has good analytical, report writing, project management, communication and interpersonal skills. He holds a Master’s Degree in Development Studies and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry and Microbiology from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. And a certificate in English Communicative Grammar from Witwatersrand University. He also possess various certificates in R&D, namely certificate in: Economic and Social Policy for Sustainable Development for Developing Countries, Managing a Research Budget, Writing a Funding Proposal in the Sciences, Questionnaire Construction and Reporting Quantitative Results, Introduction to Qualitative Research, and Conducting Interviews.

SINENHLANHLA SITHOLE

Research Associate

Sinenhlanhla Sithole is a Master’s degree holder in the field of Political Science, an honours degree in International Relations (Cum Laude) as well as an undergraduate degree in Political Science and Development Studies, all from University of Kwa-Zulu Natal (UKZN). She also boasts a Dean’s commendation and a few merit certificates as well as a Golden Key Membership in light of her outstanding academic performance. Her previous work experience includes tutoring at UKZN, an internship at the Durban Archives Repository as well as a Junior Researcher at Okem and Okem Consulting. Sinenhlanhla joined SATRI in 2018 as a full time Research Associate. Her career interests include undertaking research that has a bearing on workers’ and their communities within the mining and energy sectors as well as issues pertaining to national security and international relations.
